Fold-n-Cut Paper Halloween Garland

Remember cutting chains of paper dolls? This Halloween version provides 6 templates to choose from: cat, pumpkin skull, spider, ghost and cat. Each sheet of construction paper makes a garland a yard long and 2.5" tall.

To begin, download and print the Halloween Garland Template Sheet.

Use the square marked "folding guide" to divide a piece of paper into 3 strips the same height as the folding guide. Glue-stick the ends together to form a long strip.

Fold the paper accordion style, making each pleat the same width as the folding guide.

Trace the pattern onto the top fold, being sure to place the red parts of the outline along the folds. Do not cut the red parts! The shapes must remain attached at the sides.

Cut around the shape. For shapes with eyes, make a straight cut over from a convenient spot and then cut out the eye.

You can make the chain as long as you want by making additional strips and attaching them to each other. Don't try to fold and cut more than a sheet's worth at a time, though, because it will be difficult to cut smoothly through a large number of folds.

Or make a variety of short chains with different colored papers.
